19.04.2024 United Wagon Company expands its service center network to Uzbekistan

United Wagon Company (UWC) and Railway Transport Engineering (Uzbekistan) signed an agreement on establishing service centers in the Republic of Uzbekistan to provide warranty and post-warranty maintenance of freight cars equipped with innovative bogies produced by UWC.

According to the agreement, freight car repair enterprises in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be provided with necessary parts and repair documentation, as well as with training in practical skills of current uncoupling repair and scheduled maintenance of freight cars equipped with 18-9855 bogies with an axle load of 25 t.

Rustam Rakhimov, CEO at Railway Transport Engineering: “Opening in our country of the first service centers of the largest manufacturer of freight cars equipped with 25-t axle-load bogies is a logical step after the approval of plans to expand the operation of freight cars with increased load capacity on Uzbekistan’s railway network and, as a consequence, to increase freight turnover along the transport corridor ”North-South”. We are thus preparing in advance our manufacturing and engineering staff for maintenance and repair of the innovative bogies.”

The agreement was signed on the margins of the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Railway rolling stock: problems, solutions, prospects”, organized by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Transport University and the Scientific Research Center of Railway Transport. Artem Gusev, Leading Research Associate of UWC’s Engineering Center, Candidate of Science in Technology, presented a report at the conference. In his speech he noted that more than ten years of operation of Tikhvin freight cars in the 1,520 mm track gauge area have proven their efficiency, reliability and safety. Their full compatibility with the existing railway infrastructure and absence of any negative impact on the railway track have been confirmed by all participants of the transportation process. Unimpeded operation of innovative rolling stock with increased axle load will maximize the economic efficiency of transportation on transit routes in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, including the directions of the international transport corridor “North-South”.
