29.01.2024 UWC is developing a portfolio of patents

The UWC railway holding continues to develop its intellectual property management system. As of the end of 2023, the portfolio of patents for freight cars and their components amounted to more than 1.2 thousand protection titles. These patents are effective in Russia, India, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, Poland and the United States.

The established system of support for UWC’s product development is aimed at protecting intellectual property and ensuring the competitive advantage of the holding’s products. The network of patents includes inventions, utility models and industrial designs protecting current and prospective developments. The protection is ensured at all stages of R&D: from the development of a preliminary design to the finished set of design documentation.

Anna Orlova, Director for Scientific and Technical Development at UWC, CEO at the All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology (part of UWC): “We pay special attention to the protection of our inventions. For this purpose, the company has implemented the necessary processes and regulatory documents in the field of creation and management of intellectual property rights, and built a system of copyright protection. In 2023, we adopted an automated management system to reduce labor costs when dealing with multiple intellectual property items and license rights. Our intellectual resources are the foundation for UWC’s competitive advantage and leadership position.”
