Uralkali and United Wagon Company sign contract for supply of 100 new generation hopper cars for mineral fertilizers

Uralkali PJSC (the Company), one of the world's largest potassium producers, and PJSC “Research and production corporation «United Wagon Company» (UWC) have signed a contract to supply 100 new generation hopper cars for mineral fertilizers at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Under the agreement, United Wagon Company will supply 100 hoppers cars, model 19-9835-01, with increased capacity and extended scheduled maintenance intervals to Uralkali in 2021. Another batch of innovative cars manufactured by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant is purchased as part of Uralkali's long-term car fleet development strategy to ensure stable supplies of the Company's products to its customers.


Vitaly Lauk, CEO of Uralkali, said: "Uralkali has been operating innovative hopper cars for mineral fertilizers manufactured by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant since 2015. Currently, the Company has more than 1,500 such cars in its fleet, which have proven themselves in terms of reliability. Their use is economically feasible for us, taking into account the prospects of increasing the traffic capacity of the Russian Railways network itself, as well as the access roads of our ore depots and our own port terminal."
