First batch of new generation railway platforms delivered to Eurosib
Eurosib SPb-TS has accepted delivery of the first batch of platforms with increased payload capacity built at Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (part of UWC).
The cars, which use 25 tf bogies, are the only 80-foot, 74.5-tonne payload capacity model on the market that can simultaneously carry two large-capacity containers. The platforms’ advantages include extra load capacity of 11 tonnes and an extended repair interval of 8 years.
The delivery is part of the contract between Eurosib and UWC for the purchase of 500 new generation platforms for transportation of large-capacity containers signed a month ago. The first batch of 27 cars will be followed by further deliveries throughout 2018 meant to increase the fleet of Eurosib SPb-TS by a total of 270 platforms by this year’s end.
The deal is part of a long-term program of Eurosib SPb-TS to develop its container services on domestic, export and import and transit routes.
