05.07.2016 ÒikhvinChemMash has submitted tank cars to the chemical materials manufacturer Khimprom

ÒikhvinChemMash (a part of railway holding UWC) has sent a batch of tank cars for transportation of caustic soda and other chemical freights to Khimprom (Novocheboksarsk), a leading Russian enterprise producing large-scale chemistry.

New generation tank car of the model 15-6900 has been designed by All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology (a part of holding UWC) and has no analogues in the CIS countries.

The tank car’s bogies with increased axle load and boiler volume of 54.5 m3 provide for the increased payload capacity 73 t. The tank car allows to transport a wide range of chemical freights. The boiler is made of low-alloyed steel. The application of special solutions in the tank car design does not allow congealing of freight and keeps the freight in a liquid state in the course of transportations in the cold season of the year at temperatures to -40Ñ°. The applied constructive proposals provide for easy assembly and disassembly of thermal insulating covers to get access to the tank car boiler.

Increased up to 8 years terms of between-repairs runs, which provide for reduction of the tank car life cycle costs by 3 times, are a considerable competitive advantage of the tank car of the model 15-6900. Tank car service life is 32 years.

Evgeny Gerasimov, Commercial Director at Khimprom, emphasized: “Our enterprise pays a special attention to the issues of manufactured products quality and safety of their transportation. That is the very reason why we resolved to supplement our freight fleet with new generation tank cars manufactured in Tikhvin. It is vital not only to carry out timely repairs of the current freight cars fleet, but also to invest into innovative rolling stock, which will allow to ensure additional protection in the course of transportations, as well as to maintain the freight integrity and properties”.
